Malacca's Pau (Yong Moh Coffee Shop)

Malacca(Melaka) is a very petite town where I came from.I was born here, being educated here and growth here. The best part of Malacca town is when you visit here in Malacca you can still see those old monument standing still. The food here of course one word AUTHENTIC and the flavor of traditional still remains. If you want to have a food trip Melaka definitely is your choice...a plenty of food always waiting for you to taste and explore.

To compensate the craving of pau in Singapore I purposely travel all the way back to my hometown. The second reason home because want to go back accompany my family.HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my dad and daddy all over the world.Okay, back to topic PAU.

After wake up in the morning,I drove to eating pau with one of my best friend. The pau shop that we visit was Yong Moh Pau Shop(荣茂茶室).It located Along Jalan Tukang Emas (Blacksmith Street) opposite Kampung Kling Mosque.

the ball on my chopstick is CRAZY...did you see the red colour sauce at the table under my hand...is it's sauce....when you bite it ,it just burst until all over the place.

It just located right infront of Kampung Kling mosque along Jalan Tukang Emas.

Oh yeah ,please take note go to the shop earlier because the TANTALIZING Dim Sum might sold out...and be careful because you might get addicted to their delicious Pau...

FOOD HUNTING ON 09/06/2012

Sometimes some of the food is just suddenly "POP" out into your mind. After that you will start finding a way to solve the desire or your need. The answer is

 HUNT FOR IT!!!

So here is my food hunt in few places in Singapore.Done some research before going those places, and the place that sorted out is
1.Teck Kee Tanglin Pau (德记东陵飽)
2.Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint(琪利珠江烧腊)
3.Outram Park Roasted Meat(欧南园烧腊)

The 1st shop that I dropped by this morning was Teck Kee Tanglin Pau(德记东陵飽).This pau shop establish since 1948's which is 64years from now can considered an old establishment already. They prepared their food in small batches to ensure everything comes out in good quality.
The side view

Teck Kee Tanglin Pau @Killiney Road is pretty small and dont have dining space

The way they steam the pau is already modern type of steamer ,i prefer those olden time that use the bamboo basket one

This is the trade mark that printed on the parchment paper at below of the paus #CREATIVE

Big Pau (Tua Pao)

The left one is big pao & the right side one is Char Siew Pau

They are quite small compare those I had in Malaysia.

Teck Kee Lo Mei Kai

This pau is still not up to my expectation,it taste ordinary and a bit dry for me.Dry as in  the meat juice didn't drip out when you open it.I like those pau that all juice dripping out when u open it .

The Lo Mei Kai still okay and it's not that sticky unlike other places steam until become glues like that.

can see their effort on branding and packaging.

In overall ,it's still okay and some part of the pau still not up to my expectation.Char Siew Pau is star for today, and as I can see they are really putting a lot of hard works on their branding and packaging.Oh yeah, just for your info they now open a new outlet at Ion Orchard already.

The next stop>>>>>>Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint(琪利珠江烧腊)

Kay Lee Roast Meat join was established around 1970s in "Gong Seak Gai" which is known as today's "China Town".It started off as a small stall known as Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint in a coffee shop known as Wantat Eating House.Later then the 2nd generation of this family business of "ZhuJiang"style of roasting method applied which is basically originated from China's state "Guang Zhou".

How did I found this shop was via searching on a lots of food forums and blogs.Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint  get attention from community of Singapore because last few month ago got a big company offer to taking over this meat joint with a high price and is reported on local TV news.

front view of the shop

I ordered roasted duck and their black soy sauce Char Siew. The top left saucer is their special made sauce ,it is sweet and spicy sauce ...it consist of ginger, sweet sauce and chili. The top right just normal chili sauce.

Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint really doing well in the business and wonderful food. They ladies boss was so friendly.I want to ordered roasted pork SIO BAK/SIU YUK but sold out already so i just ordered roasted duck and their signature Guang Zhou "ZhuJiang" black soy roasted CHAR SIEW.Taste of Char Siew was wonderful and very tender. The Roasted duck also very delicious, crispy duck skin and juicy meat .WELL DONE KAY LEE  i can said.Give it a try!!!Is real good. They also produce their own signature sweet and spicy sauce.Definitely will go again for their food.

GOOD FOOD DOESN'T JUST STOP LIKE THAT...
